A Book That Shaped Me & Blue Hen Award

A Book That Shaped Me is an essay writing contest for rising 5th and 6th graders run by the Library of Congress. Children write a one page letter about a book that has had an impact on them. The contest runs until July 7th. Children who turn in a letter and entry form to the Dover Public Library will be entered into the national contest, where they are eligible for prizes. Additionally, participants will earn a ticket for the Dover Public Library’s raffle prize drawing. Entry forms are available online and at the library.

Blue Hen Book Award

This is a children’s choice award in which kids vote on their favorites from a selected group of picture and chapter books. If children turn in their ballots to the Dover Public Library Children’s Department between June 9th and August 19th, they will earn a ticket for the raffle prize drawing. Ballots are available online and in the library.
