THE ART OF HAPPINESS 2 November 12, 2018 – February 9, 2019
Sahnserah (Soon Kim)
Born in South Korea in 1966, she graduated from Changwon National University BFA in 1991 when she immigrated from South Korea to America.
She is a member of the Korean-American Traditional Artists Association. Her first solo photography show (Freedom) was in Philadelphia, 2008.
“I started having photo shows since 2008. I chose to share some older pieces to show the course of time within my work. Doing photography has always been so exciting and joyful for me. Through my camera lens, I try to find a story within the picture that suits it. The expression, the beauty. I want to capture it all”.
Aekyung Maria Ruffin
Aekyung was born in Korea, where she lived until she was seven. She can remember drawing and doodling constantly as a small child. She had a first grade teacher who helped nurture her love of art. Aekyung remembers that her approach to drawing and use of color was less traditional then other students in her class. Her teacher encouraged her to be innovated to do more drawing. She did not take up traditional jobs as a nurse or secretary. She persisted in art and majored in art at Delaware State University. In her spare time she painted landscapes and floral. Her style is realism and abstract. Her paintings range from small to mural size. She believes in the healing power of nature and hopes art collectors can feel the creative energy expressed through her painting.
