The Library strives to maintain an atmosphere that promotes the use and enjoyment of its resources and services; promotes the safety of the public and Library staff; and protects the building, furniture, equipment, and materials of the Library. All members of the public are welcome at the Dover Public Library. We expect Library staff to treat customers of the Library with courtesy. In turn, we expect Library customers to behave in the Library with dignity and in such a way that their actions do not interfere with the functions of the Library or with the convenience and comfort of other customers.
The Study Rooms are located on the second floor of the Library and are silent workspaces for up to 4 people. Study rooms may not be used by organizations affiliated with profit-making or partisan political sponsorship; sectarian religious services or instruction; private parties, celebrations, or private clubs.
The Library supports community organizations and welcomes tours of the Library or storytime sessions for groups. All Library Visit Requests require a minimum of at least two weeks notice from the time the form is submitted.
The Library Network, supported by the Delaware Department of State, Division of Libraries, provides access to electronic information resources through the Internet to all Delaware public library card holders in good standing. Users of public library computers must enter their library barcode number and their Personal Identification Number (PIN) to access the Internet. Users of personal mobile devices in the library are also subject to this Computer Acceptable Use Policy.
